Dr. Michael Barr is a mission-driven physician executive with 35+ years of clinical and leadership experience in a variety of settings including the U.S. Air Force, academia, community health, medical professional society and a leading national quality measurement and accreditation organization. He is founder and president of MEDIS, a health care consulting company which provides customized, client-driven services and support for health care organizations and the dedicated professionals who deliver care to people. In addition, he is the executive physician advisor at the GTMRx Institute. Prior to his role at MEDIS, Dr. Barr served as executive vice president of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as well as senior vice president of Medical Practice at the American College of Physicians (ACP).

His work is focused on high quality, accessible, equitable and affordable health care for all as well as commitment to measurable improvements in health care delivery. He’s enthusiastic about the power to design better systems of care through partnerships between health professionals and the people who entrust their lives to them and is energized by technology as a means to advance health and help translate data into meaningful, actionable guidance for clinical teams and patients.

Dr. Barr received his bachelor of science in forest biology from State University of New York: College of Environmental Science & Forestry and his doctor of medicine from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Barr then went on to receive his master of business administration from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
