Jeffrey Hanson is an experienced health care executive with a successful 35 year career working in the health care consulting, digital information technology and services industry. He is highly skilled in health care consulting, global market expansion, global solutions, strategic partnerships and health care information technology (HIT). His success comes through his ability in building trusting and lasting relationships at the highest level of governments and corporations, and he has worked with all the various stakeholders in health care including governments, employers, health plans, hospitals, physicians and pharmaceutical organizations.

For the most recent 10 years Mr. Hanson has been building and managing health business in the Middle East, U.K. and Europe on behalf IBM Watson Health (formerly Truven Health Analytics). His work has focused on health system reform, quality and cost of care, health system financing and health insurance fraud. Two years ago Jeff was relocated to the U.K. where he led efforts to expand the IBM Watson Health analytics business into the U.K. and Europe.

Prior to joining Truven Health in 2005, Jeff served as a regional healthcare manager of benefits strategy and design at Verizon Corporation’s, overseeing the mid-Atlantic & Northeast Region. Additionally, Jeff spent many years developing and implementing provider reimbursement schemes on behalf of various U.S. health insurance companies.

In September 2019, Mr. Hanson left his corporate career and started his own independent consulting business, Global Healthcare Strategies, with activity in the U.S., GCC and U.K. He is currently engaged with health care organizations seeking to expand and enter the GCC market.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hanson actively represented his companies as corporate representative in national forums, speaking engagements and organizational boards of directors including the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative (where he served on the executive board and led their Center for eHealth), the Leapfrog Group board, and Bridges to Excellence (a U.S. Pay for Performance/Quality program) where he served as board president. He has had active roles in rural health, including the National Rural Health Association, the New England Rural Health Roundtable (serving as president) and the Maine Rural Health Association.

Jeff is a familiar name and face in numerous local, regional and national speaking engagements across the U.S. and internationally, on topical areas including provider performance measurement, pay for quality and payment reform and patient-centered primary care. He has also presented on pay for performance before the U.S. Congress on Capitol Hill. In addition to speaking, Jeff is often quoted in various industry publications and news stories, capturing insight into various related health care issues.

Mr. Hanson holds a master of public health degree (M.P.H.) in health policy and administration from the University of California at Berkeley, a master of education degree (M.Ed.) in counselling and educational services from the University of Vermont and undergraduate degrees in business and science from Virginia Tech.
