Precision Medicine: Leveraging the Power of Pharmacogenomics to Improve Patient Care (30 minutes)

Webinar Date: November 12, 2020 1:00 pm

The Precision Medicine Enablement via Advanced Diagnostics Workgroup and Pharmacogenomics Payment and Policy Taskforce leadership offers an overview of leveraging the power of pharmacogenomics (PGx) to improve patient care. Presenters demonstrate that the integration of PGx testing into CMM services can reduce costs, increase provider education and improve patient outcomes, satisfaction and access to care. The webinar reviews the cost-effectiveness of multi-gene PGx testing in a CMM practice and examine organizational case studies and a patient story that demonstrate PGx-testing benefits in a Medicare population.

Learning Objectives

  1. Evaluate the impact of PGx as a tool used during the delivery of CMM services to achieve the quadruple aim.
  2. Discover the key success factors associated with increased PGx testing as a tool during the CMM process, including education of patients and health care professionals, reimbursement of PGx testing and reduced clinic, ER visits and hospitalizations.
  3. Discuss the cost-effectiveness of multigene pharmacogenomic testing during the CMM process in a Medicare population.
  4. Identify how a patient’s health care journey is improved by the utilization of PGx testing along with CMM service delivery.
